Back at it....day 8 at the gym...

Hey all,
I read the comments...
I hope no-one is worried about men flirting with me.
It doesn't turn my head, I guess is the old fashioned phrase....More than anything I simply remember how nobody flirted with me when I was much bigger. I have no illusions about the nature or quality of any interest shown.
My husband was married to me through thin and thick and now hopefully thin again.
If anyone deserves a shot at the goodies, it's him.
There is where I sign off from tmi thursday, back to our regularly scheduled blog....
So, I went to gym today.
I went for 60 minutes on Arnold. I burned 700 calories.
Then I did my 165 situps.
same proportion as three posts down.
food
3 eggs and 1 toast 310 cal.
1&1.5 cups macaroni and cheese made with water 435 cal.
6 strawberries 30 cal.
1 T honey 60
2 cups coffee 4 T sugar....(no milk today)
2 oz. chicken 100 cal.
8 shrimp 130cal
15 spears asparagus 62 cal.
3 shrooms 10 cal
1 T butter 100 cal.

Total calories 1417
under my 1500 calorie cap for the day...pretty good.

oh and quick heads up for those of you counting on restaurants to get the calorie counts right...
http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,582418,00.html
It's all about how they aren't....not fun.
I am going to keep it short tonight.
I will have a much longer and better post tommorrow.
Take care all....
Hugs,
Chris

186 and an NSV

My weight this morning.
To be honest, I don't recall this weight or the last time I weighed it...I remember 179, the next time I stepped on a scale it read 190.
This was the great gray area between, "I'm okay" and "oh gosh, I'm 10 lbs away from 200".
I weighed 190 in october 2000 when I got pregnant with my sophie...so, Approximately 9 years and a few months. I weighed 179 in Germany in 1998.
I am about 46 lbs from a normal bmi. 48 lbs from the weight I was when I met my husband in the military. I have lost 76.4 lbs.
I have never lost this amount of weight, and still felt this committed, ever.

I have a little story for those of you wondering if this whole weight loss thing is worth the effort.

I went to fedex kinkos today.
I have been in there many times, today I went in a new outfit.
I looked pretty good...looking thinner even than a 16 would suggest.
I love black pants.
I walk in, and lo and behold some dude comes out from behind the desk and comes over...
I hadn't even set my purse down...
I hadn't even picked a machine.
He goes, Ma'am can I help you? You look confused.
(I am not confused...i have made copies many many many times before...in fact, I always do it in this establishment...in fact the first time I came in I waited at the counter for ten to twenty minutes for some help. that was nearly 80 lbs ago)
I say I was just going to make some copies.
! He takes my one lousy piece of paper and says "Let me show you how to do that the easy way!
He putsit on the top of the copier and proceeds to 'show' me.
Then he says "So, what are making copies for?"
I sat Girls scouts.
He says "I used to lead a boy scout troop, those kids are something aren't they?
I'm all like 'Yeah, they are.'
Then he says "Do you do a lot of copying?" I say "quite a bit".
He says "I miss doing scouts, have you been a leader long...."
I let that lie there, cause he is smiling and acting very friendly.
He says "would you like to know how to get a receipt"
(as I get the seven copies we just copied)
He goes and takes my card, and gets me a receipt...for .56 cents.
I said, wow...I didn't know you can do that.
He goes, yeah..alot of people don't know that
(and he hitches his pants up o.O..then says, maybe you can use it for tax purposes)
Then he walks me to the door, and said 'have a great day, hope to see you again)

I have been in that fed ex kinkos at least 20 times.
No, I was not the only person in there.
No, I did not have a large purchase.
That DUDE WAS FLIRTING with me.
Touching my arm and the whole nine yards.
I don't even know what to do when that happens.
When I was really fat, I had to hunt people down.
ridiculous.
This is the second time i have had a noticeable difference in service, you will recall the geek squad incident.
The world, fellow bloggers, can be a cold and shallow place.
I still remember standing there while I was completely ignored.
Granted, I don't remember the people involved....but I have never in the last ten years of my existence been treated that way over a 56 cent purchase.
If it walks like a duck, talks like a duck and swims like a duck...it's a duck.

That being said, I have a lovely husband....
186.
Good to see you.
Hate to be going...but 179 is waiting.
Have a great night.
Hugs,
chris

It's in the Want TO...

Hey all...Today was the last day of the first week of Fatmaggedon.
Six days of exercise under my belt.
Six days of good eating under my belt.
Tomorrow is my first rest day. Wednesdays are girl scout meeting and planning days.
I am keeping my calories tomorrow under 1400.
Today I did 45 minutes on Arnold and burned 500 calories, and have really been wanting to switch things up.
Getting on Christian is like going backwards.
I do need one or two lighter cardio days paired with heavier toning days.
After I got off Arnold, I hopped on a stationary bike for 15 minutes. I went five miles and burned about 107 calories.
It was okay.
Grand total burn was 607 calories.
Then i went upstairs and did my arm workout.
3 sets of 40 shoulder raises with 2.5 lb dumb bells
3 sets of 20 tricep extensions with 5 lb dumb bells
3 sets of 20 bicep curls with 5 lb dumb bells

That was it along with some stretching.

Food
fage yogurt and honey and peaches 310
baked tostitos and salsa 180
5 pretzels 25 cal.
1 and 1/2 cups chicken soup 180 cal.
2 cups of coffee (Iknow, Iknow) 220 cal.
3 fish fillets 360 cal.
15 asparagus spears 62 cal.
3 shrooms 10 cal.
1 T butter 100
Total cals. around 1450 calories
(adding in my head)
Not bad.

I am thinking of taking two workouts per week home.
So tonight I went out and bought 3 lb dumb bells.
I want to buy the Tracy Anderson Mat workout.
I also want to buy the Jillian Michaels 30 day shred.
In the end it could be three days a week a the gym for elliptical and situps
and three days a week at home for major toning and a good walk.
I am going to see which workout I prefer for my body type before settling on an answer.

Now for the title of my post.
I go to the gym 6 days a week, and I have been going now for a few months.
I have noticed a few things.
There are the superfit people. People who are always there when I am there...(and probably a great deal of the time...even when I am not.)
They cardio, they lift, they do the rock wall...you name it...Fitness is a way of life, a hobby, a joy or whatever.
That will never be me, for me this is about using fitness as a tool to improve my life.

Then there are the people who are putting there time in to lose weight.
They are overweight but they get in there and when they are done, they are covered in sweat.
They push, they are there to work.
I count myself among this group...there are three or four of us.
Then there are the people who are there to kill time.
As Jillian would say, they phone it in...literally.
There they are, taking up valuable machinery, peddling at two miles an hour.
They have a magazine propped up in front of the display, leafing through with one hand.
In the other, a cell phone....laugh laugh laugh, talk talk talk.
They are as fat as they were five months ago, when I first came...at 220 lbs.
I am now 188 lbs....(I weigh in tomorrow to have a look see.)
In fact, if I look closely...some of them are FATTER.
They come, waste an hour and then hie off to Mcdonalds afterward.
These are the same people who you hear whining and moaning about how they can't make progress as you walk in the halls.
If you want to make progress, you have to push yourself.
Making sure your sweat doesn't smudge your makeup does no good.
And while your grey and pink outfit is very cute, it would look better if it weren't pulled tightly over the rolls of fat you refuse to work to get rid of, but bemoan constantly.
I have rolls of fat too, but I don't wonder why they are there, I know why...and so do you.
Hoop earings, glitter lip gloss, and matching outfit.
It doesn't make you healthy.
You have to want it.
Many times I am in there and I look up and down those machines and I know with 100 percent surety that I want it more than any other person there.
I am willing to hurt, I am willing to look sweaty and half dead.
I am willing to wear ratty workout gear and to exercise with or without music.
I am not there to pick up men.
I am there for me, for my body, for a better life.
I want it.
I want it more than I have wanted anything in forever.
It's a fire in me. It doesn't get lower...it gets higher every time I go...every time I lose a pound, every time I drop a size.
It's a fire I started, I kindled...one only I can put out.
I want it...DO YOU?
It's in the want to.
Now go out and get it.
Your on fire blogger,
Chris

HOW GREAT IS IT!!!!!

To not be the fattest person in the room?
PRETTY GREAT!

First things first.
I went to the gym today and burned 705 calories on Arnold.
Then, I did 165 situps.
ouch.
I did 75 regular ones.
Then I did 2 sets of 30 obliques one right, one left
then I did 3 sets of 10 'situps' in the sense that I was laying down and had my knees bent.
then I curled up with my hips putting my knees almost to my chest and then tapped down on my toes and then quickly lifted back up. You can really feel it in your lower abdominal muscles.
Unlike a lot of 'situps' that focus on the lower abs but seem to actually work your hip flexors.
I could feel the burn under that fat pooch that just lies there...mocking me. I found that exercise on the internet.

I went to my meeting...my COOKIE TRAINING SELLING THINGAMAJIG.
This was where I WAS NOT the fattest person in the room.
I wasn't even close...in fact I would say...looking around I was in the top ten skinniest people there.
That sounds concieted and horrible doesn't it?
I don't care.
For years I would walk in a room and within moments was positive that I was indeed...the fattest person present.
Just for the record.
The person directing the meeting...very thin.
And As I thought.... there were cookies.
plates and plates.
I had two cookies.
a samoa and a thin mint.
damage done 105 calories.
They kept passing them around and around.
I kept watching the women eat them.
It made me want a low calorie dinner.
When I got home I had an omelet.

I felt so awesome coming out of there, I controlled myself calorie wise.
I was on the thin side of the average.
It was so different than every other meeting I've been to in the last five years, I can't even tell you.
I kept my calories to 1510 today.
breakfast
fage yogurt honey and peaches: 310 cal.
pretzels: 160 cals.
apple: 80 cal
coffee: 220 cals
14 baked tortilla chips with 1/4 cup salsa: 180
2 cookies 1 samoa 75 cal. and one thin mint: 35 cal.
omelette with turkey sausage, mushrroms and cheese: 450 cal.

Thank you everyone for all the encouraging words.
I think If i tried really hard, I could cut back to one cup of coffee.
I would do the no cal low cal sweetener, but it just ruins the taste for me.
I drink it with 2 percent and two Tablespoons of sugar. That would put my calories in at 110 for a cup. I drink a big cup...so it's probably 12 oz's.
I think it was olivia who said in the comments that they don't like any food having a hold on them, I am the same way. If this weight loss thing really means something, I can cut back to one cup a day. (by the way, drop by olivia's blog...it looks great)
It does, so I will.
If Sean from a daily diary of a winning loser can quit smoking. I can cut back to one cup of coffee.
(keep talking and I may convince myself)
I also read in the comments about how my maintenance calories seem low for the weight I will be trying to maintain.
I have no idea how to maintain. (never having done it)
I figured I would start with the 1500 to 1600 and then see where the needle goes.
If it hits the 120's so much the better. My bottom out number would be around 122.
I don't think I would look too good much lower. If it comes right down to it, I will just have to buck up and eat more , as hard as that may be. ;oP
I don't think eating will ever be a problem for me though. I like food too much, lol.
I am back to the gym tomorrow to finish out my first week of exercise for my fatmaggedon challenge.
If I see a difference on the scale...I'll post it...if not, its off on for exercise (my one day of rest per week ) on wednesday, and then back to it Thursday.
Hope everyone is having a successful day and that you are ready for tomorrow.
Good luck,
Your Samoa having blogger,
Chris

fiddling with things..and thinking things through.

Alrighty,
day 3 of fatmaggedon was pretty good.

Food

2 eggs
1 toast
240 calories

2 cuppa coffees
220

Lunch

14 tortilla scoops (baked ) 140
1/4 cup of salsa 40 cal.

Dinner...
NEW RECIPE
8 CAJUN GRILLED SHRIMP 130 cal.
1 serving turkey sausage 90 cal.
2.5 oz. smart taste ronzoni spaghetti 225 cal.
1 tomato 20 cal
1/3 red pepper 12 cal.
3 large mushrooms 15cal.
2 green onions 15 cal.
1/8 cup of prego spaghetti sauce. 25 cal.

20 mini pretzels 110 cal.

Dinner total: 532 cal.

total
1387....Not bad.

whoops with the fruit.
Still have some cal. left...apple
80 would put me in at1460.
hmmm.
Well, so I got the new recipe out of the way for my perfect 10.
I did one hour and ten minutes of cardio.
I did a lighter cardio day than usual because I had three slammin days and wanted to give my body a rest.
So I did 30 minutes on Christian and then walked for 40 minutes. That equaled a total burn of 530 calories.

Then it was stretching and free weights.
I did 3 sets of 20 tricep extensions
then 3 sets of 20 bicep curls
and then 3 sets of 40 shoulder raises
arms down at your side and then up to your shoulder level, back down and out to the front.
For a four count.
I like that one.
I can really feel it. I will be doing my sit ups tommorrow.
I did 165 sit ups yesterday.
My goal is 200 by the middle of March.
I definately think it is doable.
I started this month at 188 and am hoping for an 8 lb loss this month.
I have set a low weight loss goal for the perfect 10 because there were other things I wanted to focus on.
Mainly sleep, water and good nutrition.
I am feeling extremely focused.
There are times when I wish I were on a fat farm or something for the next four months.
It's hard really focusing in on weight loss when there are so many other things to focus on.
I have two Monday night meetings coming up.
Both of which are important.
I can deal with tomorrow's meeting....I have a babysitter for my workout in the early part of the day, but the following Monday is going to be difficult. I won't be able to go in the morning and I have a seminar on college financial aid to attend in the evening when I usually work out.
I will figure something out.
It has made me start thinking about and working on what I am going to be able to do when it comes to maintenance. I don't think two hours a day is workable exercise wise.
At the most I can get by with 1 to 1and1/2 hours five to six days a week.
I have been fiddling with my calories and 1400 a day is hard for me.
I mean really hard.
1500 feels easy in comparison.
I know I could easily cut my calories to 1400 by cutting out one cup of coffee.
But I start feeling a little irritated by the thought and then I know from experience that bad things happen.
I will look and see...and try to fiddle with things a bit more.
When I am at maintenance I expect to eat around 1500 to 1600 per day and then have two or three higher calorie days per month.
I feel that this calorie range is doable.
I want to weigh in at around 130 lbs.
eating 1500 to 1600 would mean I would consuming 200 or 300 more calories per day more than I would need to maintain 130 lbs without exercise.
That means I would definitely need exercise.
I can burn 600 calories minimum at an exercise session.
I can pile up a calorie reserve in no time...enough for special occasions and a special dinner out here and there.
I know I 'should' eat my maintenance diet now...and let the weight sort itself out.
But I really want to burn off the last 50 or so pounds relatively quickly. By quickly I mean 6 to 8 months.
I am capable and just want this part of the process done.
I am a clean and jerk type person.
I get tunnel visioned. I Have a hard time enjoying my current weight if it's not where I want it to be. I will have a range at goal so I don't freak out every time I eat a donut. I can't live that way.
This is a kind of thinking through post.
It's probably boring to you all.
It's part of the process for me....trying to wiggle things around and think things through so I don't get caught up in a direction that is unworkable.
well,
Hope everyone had a great day,
Talk to you later,
Chris

Fatmaggedon day 2.. with a little satan thrown in...

hello all...
well,
back to the gym.
I got on arnold for 30 minutes and had a 330 calorie burn.
Then I had to hop on a random elliptical for 30 minutes because the queen of Texas had got to Christian first.
I call her that cause she comes in full on face makeup, hair hairsprayed to the sky and I once saw her get into her rav 4 and on the back it had a big *ss texas longhorn sticker and the plates were from texas.
So I call her the Queen of Texas.
original.
Anywho...I couldn't figure out how to find my calories on the thing.
I went on a level six and went 2.5 miles so I am thinking 250-300 calories?
I have done the ellipticals 3 days running.
I think I will do a walk/run tomorrow and then do my arm toning.
I don't think I will be able to get to all the blogs tonight
One of my goals on the perfect 10 is to be in bed by midnight.
I usually post earlier but was up watching the movie 1408 with lane meyer.
That's not his real name....but I always forget his real name...he was in better off dead (lane)
and say anything (lane in a different movie) then he was in 2012 (lane at the end of the world)
and now he is in a satan possessed room (lane in the exorcist) lol.
Lane gets around.
It was alright...but having been raised a southern baptist...I spent the whole movie yelling...rebuke the devil lane..read the bible.
Pray for God's sake.
Lane does none of this....he drinks the devil's brew and wanders around wondering if he is going crazy. He talks to the refrigerator...and then, in a move I predicted...satan throws his dead daughter in his face....Lane falls for it of course.
Just evil.
hrummmph.
Well, enough of that ....My calories came in a bit high...1540. I will have to do better tomorrow.
Calories yesterday 1420. So you take the two and it averages around 1470 or so...Must have a lower one tomorrow.
Hope everyone did good today, that you are on track.
Hugs,
your checking under the bed and saying a little prayer
blogger,
Chris
