Who I am doing this for and...Thanks!

Thank you guys for all the great snack suggestions...I love cabbage..so I may end up making 'mexican coleslaw' with green bell peppers for a night time snack. Anything to get through. By the end of the night I really am low on calories...or right at the edge...and if I am too hungry, I can't sleep.
I am a night owl. It's just the way I am. I have always been this way.
I went to the gym today...I have been weighing daily and am feeling good about my progress.
I sometimes have to remind myself that it takes time...
The last 20 pounds are harder than the first hundred and 10.
I don't know why.
Maybe that's why it's been such a long hard row this last year.
You are almost where you want to be, but not quite.
And some times you realize that even with every effort you will not look like some of those young, perky things flitting around the gym.
So you put in maximum effort and end up with mediocre results.
But I guess that is when you have to accept reality and move forward regardless.
Because it isn't about anyone but you.
And you owe it to yourself to do your best...FOR YOU.
So...I go on.
Knowing I look better than I did three years ago...that I have expanded my life in so many ways and that I am no longer simply existing...but able to really enjoy things.
Have a great night guys...
Hugs,
Chris

You are definitely right that it's all about being YOUR best! I like your comment about maximum effort with mediocre results, but how true is it? We've made it to those last few pounds and you're right, they are the hardest pounds to lose. If you add in the fact we have age, hormones and gravity working against us....I think we've did pretty good!

I think that's the big thing I've come to realize that I am light years away from where I use to be 4+ yrs ago and really that's what's most important not that last 20. I mean sure we want to lose it but we have already become our best :) To me, "our best" means doing the right things for ourselves and the ones we love around us. YOU ARE THE BEST CHRIS!!!!!

maximum effort with mediocre results--has definitely DERAILED my motivation... but I keep going because I've made life-long changes to my life....

I know you will lose those last 20 lbs. I know it... you have been steady and consistent through your journey... slow and steady chris. You've got this...

I've been turning to cabbage slaw too in the evenings. I just made a batch of green and purple cabbage, cilantro and rice vinegar....

you'll lose the last 20 lbs because you don't give up. You challenge yourself and like most things, you'll get it done...

I had a personal trainer and going through a fairly rigid regimen a couple years ago and he was also a nutritionist and gave me a lot of education on hunger and ideas for those late night times. He said it's bad to go to bed hungry. If you do this your body will hold it's storage overnight. He recommended a teaspoon of organic honey. It's a complex sugar and takes a lot of energy to metabolize and it takes longer for your body to work thorugh it too eliminating the hunger pain when your trying to go to sleep. It really did work for me because I was having the same problems with hunger pains at bed time. It lasted all night and I didn't wake up famished.. good luck! You look great!
