You are doing the right thing in getting some help. (((hugs)))Pat
Anyone who has insomnia (speaking from experience) needs a regimented schedule. It is why it is soooo awful when you get off it. Once you are keeping "bad" hours the insomnia gets worse. Melatonin can work in the short term to help you get back on track. I also take chelated magnesium (from either the health food store or bought online) before bed because it will help me sleep. And that is even if it is in my Calcium plus Vitamin D. A little more won't hurt and if it helps me sleep... yay! So, those are some things you can try before that doctor appt. But the most important thing, if this really is an "issue" for you, is keeping up with a consistent bedtime. I know that sucks...
Christine, oh girl, I feel your pain. I had insomnia for 5 1/2 months and it threw everything off. I hope you're able to get into that counselor!
I've had it since I was 12...and I have gone days without sleep.
