micro (small) resolutions

heydy hey people...
been working a lot
don't have much time.
ever get the feeling you have bitten off more than you can chew...

an example of this might look like:

I am going to eat 1200 calories
work out six days a week.
and go to church three times a week..

when up till that point..
you were eating whatever you could pile drive into your pie hole..
your work out consisted of flapping your gums.
and God was a mild profanity used in a slow check out lane at the supermarket.

I heard tell of this thing called micro resolutions.
Instead of going bat out of hell insane and death spiraling..
the idea is to give yourself one thing to do that is easy...
SO EASY, you would feel like a loser if you didn't complete it...
one specific idea was to make a resolution to exercise for a minimum of four minutes in a row per day.

And before you know it you are jogging to the beach to have a naked swim with the dolphins and dropping forty pounds.

So pick something...like...I am no longer drinking soda...do it till it gets done..
and then pick another something.
something like- I am going to exercise for four minutes a day no matter what.
and you keep doing it till your whole life changes...
or you die.
one of those.
I pick...hmmmmmm....from here on out...instead of eating a candy bar on my break at work..I eat a piece of fruit..
apple...or banana.
That's it.
I already exercise 6 days a week.
so I got that going for me.
Tell me what your micro resolution is..
or what you think it should be..
in the comments below.
Chris out.

I really want my garden to succeed this year. Heck, getting ANY veggies out of it will be an improvement over my last effort. So, I am going to check it every day. Period. Water if it needs it. And pull weeds sometimes. But checking it every day is my micro resolution. The least I can do is that... and it will lead to the rest getting done!

Spend 20 mins 5 days a week meditating or reading something spiritual. I know for me working on the inside is just as important as the nutrition and exercise.

Absolutely!
The 100 days thing is working for me lately. I mean, if I can't do something for 100 days than that's just pathetic. And if I miss a few days it's not the end of the world, but the overall trend is there. I also get the chance to see if this something I am trying is working for me. After 100 days I can keep the new habit or drop kick it and try a new one!

Limit my alcohol consumption. I really like to unwind with a drink or two at night. Bad, bad, bad for weight loss efforts but good for stress relief and relaxation in moderation. My micro resolution is to; Focus more on exercise for relaxation and stress relief and less on consuming toxic waste.

I came her via Robin's A-Z post. Some time ago I made a resolution to get at least 1 thing done each day. Now, I wonder what happened to that. Today, I'm going to stop procrastinating and get on something I've been avoiding for two weeks. Thanks!

Visiting your blog from Robin's blog @Your Daily Dose. I found weight to be an issue when I turned 50- the aging and metabolism thing. I am on the road to quitting smoking and the cravings for everything high calorie are about as bad as craving for nicotine.

I'm going to think about that four minute thing. It's a good one. Visiting from Robin's.

I love this idea! I am guilty of the goal setting, goal breaking, and feeling like a lousy failure afterward.

Let's see...can I start with drinking water? I always feel better when I drink plenty of water, yet I always grab the coffee, tea, or pop hoping for quick energy boost. It never works, but I can't convince my brain of that.

Good habits are so important, and baby steps to achieve them don't hurt either sometimes. Pick something, and work your way to the top of the mountain. The trail is so much more beautiful when you start from the bottom and climb your way up anyway. You get to see and learn so much more, and can be prouder for your efforts.

I also like the idea of micro resolutions. A little bit does go a long way! Robin sent me over, and I'm glad she did!

Hi!

I find greatest success when I work on one 'vice' at a time. Master it, move on. Great post!
