exercise for da po' folk (and songs for the putz)

Hello,
Well, I didn't get to go to my brother's wedding because I didn't have the money.
That was irritating.
alright.
that upset me.
You know why I don't have money.
debt.
duh.
lol.
don't we all...
But besides current monthly expenses being ridiculous...we have debt that eats our money every month.
car payment, mortgage payment and college loan...That's it, but those are some doozies.
And I am tired of debt..
So I am going to pay it off.
That means I am 'poor on purpose'.
That means saying no alot.
to me.
to the kids.
to everyone.
and that's okay.
but...if going to the gym is going to be a rare thing...
what ever shall I do?
well...
a little something I like to call 'exercise for da po' folk'.
lol.
Today I did a 6 mile ruck march.
Funny how the army didn't need a gym membership to get me into shape.
I don't want to spend money on gas to the gym till I need it...(november/December?)
So I will jog and ruck march and do free weights at home.
It costs no gas money.
And it is hard.
And it works.
so...six mile ruck 3 days a week plus toning Tuesday, thursday and saturday ...
1 mile jog with 100 modified pushups and situps monday wednesday and friday, plus 3.5 mile ruck at night.
For the next 8 weeks.
Kind of like boot camp.
And like bootcamp...I have my first blister.
Go me.
Chris out.

I noticed a book about using our own body weight for exercising and that is better than machines and free weights. The five best exercises were sit ups, pull ups, planks, lunges, and push ups. Doing these also builds the muscles evenly such as triceps which are the opposing muscles for the biceps. We often work the biceps more than the triceps. It will save you time and money to exercise at home. Do you have a friend to exercise with? That would help keep both of you going. Stay well!

Ok, so now I feel bad. We are watching our money also. We don't belong to any gym and resort to the walking, jogging, dvd's, etc. I was planning on joining the gym tomorrow. I "think" that will make me do better. But now, I feel like maybe I shouldn't spend my money on that. LOL

Way to go on saving the money on wants to spend it on needs. That's hard, but you're doing it. :)

Sounds like you have plenty of exercise to keep you busy. Keep it up.

So what, exactly, does a ruck march entail? I am very intrigued.

well a ruck march entails a ruck sack with stuff in it...today it was just food, water and a tarp. I will increase the weight as I get better at it.

I love your attitude here! What great ideas. With the weather changing I know I will need to get creative. Don't laugh too hard, but I have some belly dance DVDs and that is an awesome abs workout.

The money thing- I do know what you mean. We travel a lot- but do it on a budget, don't go out to eat on any regular basis, don't buy into all the latest greatest gadgets. And we have paid a TON of debt off. Even more difficult with kiddos, I imagine.

More power to you. It's funny how if you prioritize it CAN be done. Giggling just now at the thought of some people I know who inherited their home, yet never have any money. Yeah, it's all about prioritizing and making the sacrifice. I know you can do it!

Debt free is wonderful. I am down to just my mortgage (and a roomie to help pay that) and my car payment....only a while longer for me!

Oh BTW...blisters are sexy! I show mine off at work! Well the ones on my feet anyways :D

Go you! I love that attitude. And you're right, rather save the gym fees for the really cold months when doing anything outdoors is well nigh impossible.

I took a second job to pay for my gym and stuff. And sometimes I think it's whipping me! Between that and the heat - it made for a super-hard summer!
I know my (lazy) self - I need someone to help with the work out.... else I wouldn't do it - like I didn't do it for the first year of my "recovery."
And by "recovery," I mean "diet" and weight loss.
Recovery from needing a prod!
I like the simple BodyWeight Workouts best of all.

Hahaha, we really don't need a membership to lose weight you're right :) I really do love anything about saving money mostly because I have so little HA

I know you don't want to spend more but investing in a good pair of running socks might help with the blisters not happening. I found pretty nice ones at Walmart for $10 for a pack of 3 (they are usually $10 a pair). I know this post is about saving money though but I think it would be worth it to ya :)

That looks like a tough bootcamp to me, I'd join if I was close by :)

This is what I love about you...life hands you lemons, you make lemonade, lemon meringue pie, lemon squares, lemon tarts, and still have enough lemon left over to squeeze into your water.

Hugs Christine!!!
