Home is where

Your home is...
I guess you don't realize how much you think of a place as 'home' until you are faced with the possibility of moving.
Ever since I was little I have longed to move.
I wanted to travel and see the world.
Even my home when I was growing up didn't feel like home...Not really.
I have spent the last 11 years of my life here (or pretty much here except for an 11 month abberation of a move to north carolina.)
I love Colorado.
I love it more than 100,000 dollars a year.
I love it more than new adventures.
My husband has been a security guard by choice for a few years now.
he makes 13 dollars an hour.
I always said I would consider a move if he got a good, high paying job where he didn't have to deploy.
Well, someone smack me.
He has been offered a chance at a job with someone I can't talk about.
It's oodles of money.
It's oodles of security.
and
I feel like I have a brick in my stomach.
I don't want a 3000 square foot house with a swimming pool with some sort of timer thingie that cleans it...
After all, When I am 70 am I going to care we have a pool room?
No.
I am going to be grumbling going up and down all those stairs and wondering what possessed me.
We would be near washington dc.
annapolis.
and what not.
I am sure it's beautiful, the people friendly and the schools divine.
But my home is here with my great neighbors, the sunshine and the mountains.
I feel at home here.
I have a church finally!
I gently reminded my hubby that if we move he will have to work a ton more and won't be able to spend all his free time hunting and fishing.
we'll see if it works.
oy.
off to bed...gotta be up early.
Hugs,
chris

Chris, dearheart,

Wherever YOU and your family live, that will be home. And you can make your home as simple and pure as you want it to be.

You're right. It's not the material things...and it's not the location, either.

Your heart makes it home.

I'm praying for God's best for you,

Deb

How exciting but it's HUGE.

Change is difficult but you am do it.

Blessings as you work things out.

And remember it's the heart that makes a home not the pool. *smile*

You "just" got snuggled into your new healthy routines... found the church you told us about... I can only imagine how hard it would be to let go of that.

I wouldn't even begin to presume to know what would be best for you and your family. But I know you will seek God's heart, and it will work out for the best, either way.

I grew up moving so much that by the time I was 18 we had moved 27 times. I made the decision that once it was up to me and I had kids I would settle somewhere and let some roots form. I've lived where I am now for 28 years. It's one of the good things I did for my daughter, even though I would have chosen to live somewhere warmer.

So, I KNOW EXACTLY HOW YOU FEEL.

Such a hard, hard decision, especially in this economy. Such a tough thing for your husband who wants to be a great provider. Yet, whatever happens, I know you'll be OK.

Hugs and prayers.

I can relate to this entirely.
Ive spent the past few weeks chanting in my head that HOME IS WHERE MY FAMILY IS AND THAT IS ALL I NEED.

Good luck with the decision, dear. I've visited Colorado around the Denver- FT. Collins area. My husband and I spend some of our time just driving through the countryside. It was quite lovely. Of course, we live just outside the Smoky Mountains so we have a lovely home too.

Moving and changes are always scary, even when they're ones you're looking forward to...so I know this is hard. Do try to keep in mind though that home is where you're surrounded by your dear ones...hubby and kids. Your car could be your home if you were destitute. And just think...if it's oodles of money...you can afford to fly back a couple of times a year and visit all your friends. Just make it a priority. :)

Don't know if you remember me (my blog) but I'm back after having my baby. I have to say, you look fantastic! It is very motivating to see your progress! Thanks.
p.s. I hope things with the move work out.

Ah Chris, life has a way of throwing us curve balls. Here you are wanting to be settled and faced with a possible move. Here I am chomping at the bit to get moving and being told to wait a 'couple more weeks' for in person interviews. God does his thing in his own time, as we know. I will pray that things go without a lot of stress all around, whatever is meant to happen.

I don't really have a good comment for this. Moves suck. Particularly if you love where you are. Change is hard. However, if it happens it was meant, and sometimes we need to stretch ourselves beyond our comfort zone to learn whatever lesson is waiting. That is all I have got.

Home is where you, your family and heart is. A big grand house or a small one bedroom appt. The walls don't make the home. Who lives and loves there is what makes it home.

But there is nothing quite like our beautiful mountains, sunsets and fresh air.
Friends and neighbors will always be there, even if only by phone.

I'm sure God has a plan!

I moved here to Colorado in 2001 from So Cal. I have missed So Cal for such a long time yet after this last vacation would never want to move back. We have everything here within reach (okay, except the beach, but the reservoirs make do).

Yeah, it's about priorities, isn't it? Hope you find your way through the decision.
