And now for the rest....

well,
Thank you for all the kind comments on yesterdays post.
It feels like I find out something new about myself everyday.
So, onto my forever plan.
It looks something like this:
I intend to eat about 1400 to 1500 calories 6 days a week.
I also intend to work out six days a week for an hour to an hour and a half a day.
On my day of rest (which is saturday) I will eat around 1800 calories.
except for one saturday a month, Where I won't count my calories.
I'll just eat what I feel like...which is probably going to be some form of mexican food.
I will see where this lands me weight wise. If I find it too restrictive, or my weight edging too low...I will increase my calories.
I want to weigh between 128 and 132 ideally.
I have no doubt I will make adjustments as I go.
If my weight loss slows until I can't stand it, I may up my workouts a bit...but not much.
You see...
While I am around 40 lbs or so from ideal weight (29 lbs from being considered 'normal' bmi wise) I need to start learning how to eat for the rest of my life now.
I don't want to diet my way down and then get all panicky because It's not what I want to do for the rest of my life.
Get claustrophobic, feel hemmed in by my 'lifestyle choice' and then eat out of frustration and gain it all back.
Been there, done that.
I want to settle in to my ideal weight.
Like an old pair of shoes.
If that means my ideal weight turns out to be 135 or 138 with this eating plan...well then, so be it.
It beats the heck out of 262.4 lbs.
Hope you all had a successful day.
Hugs to you,
chris

You've done a great job from what I can see. If you're weight loss slows to a halt -- confuse it a little. It's a hard concept but you may have to eat more than you think to lose the extra bit. When you get to that point - eat right, stay active, and adjust to make it work for you.

It must be so awesome to finally reach the point where you have to start thinking about the forever number. That's awesome.

Of course I love that your day of rest is on a Saturday! So is mine!

Sometimes when I read the weight loss blogs it occurs to me that what I eat as normal food is considered a "blow it" meal on the blogs, like Mexican food. I've maintained my weight for a long time and I eat Mexican food at least once a week and I don't consider it off my food plan AT ALL. Normally I stick with fajita-type stuff, corn tortillas, and limit the chips, but I have it.

No eating plan that doesn't involve, um, eating could be a success with me forever because despite being normal-sized, I like food. Still!

cool new background :-) isn't it funny how people act when they hear you homeschool - lol! We are a greatly loved or hated bunch. Good job on all your goals. Looks like things are going pretty well. You are such an inspiration to all of us.

I think you got it all figured out, your just over analyzing it. Take a breath b/c you already made the decision long ago to change your life and look how far you have come!

Chris, it sounds like you have it figured out. It is so important to ease into your maintenance weight, at least in my opinion.

A realistic, doable plan. I like the day of rest idea that allows for a bit more but not overload!

you will find that once you get to that weight if you maintain exercise, you will eat way more than you thought to keep from losing weight that you don't want to lose.

Sounds like a good plan to me!
You'll be at goal before you know it. And like you said goal may be a differenet number than you plan on, goal will be when you really like what yu see in the mirror not what's on the scale!

Keep it up!
