Things that make me happy.....

1.) I weighed in this morning at 182.
That is a total loss of 80 lbs so far.

2.) Jane austen novels and movies.....
My favorite movie of all time. Persuasion (1995 version with ciaran hinds)

3.) Walking...my favorite exercise...
Which I just did...3.5 miles...I am also happy because 8 months ago I could only walk for 1 mile without becoming extremely tired.

4.) greek yogurt.
Which I am currently eating.

5.) That I was raised tough.
I learned the value of knowing who and what you are.
I'll trade being respected rather than liked any day.

6.) self sufficiency.
I was raised in the country. I think many people have become so numb to their natural surroundings that they wouldn't know how to function if you stripped away the tv, the computer and the air conditioned cars.
They have no idea what their bodies are capable of . I may not like to camp. But if I had to, I could make a fire...build a shelter. Find food (kill food). I am happy I have good outdoor skills.

7.) My children
nuff said.

8.) The telephone
It keeps me in contact with my family back east.
Through this little miracle of technology, I can talk to my mom two or three times a week to see how she is doing.

9.) New art pencils.
Oh, the possibilities.

10.) Books....It's like travel without the jet lag.

I walked and am about to do my upper body workout.
Hope everyone had a good day.
Hugs,
Chris

You are doing so great, Chris, and the great thing is that you're doing it the right way. Your hard work is paying off, and paying off big! Keep it up.

I love good books, only I "read" them by getting books on CD's and tapes from the library. Two writers that have an almost magical ability to transport me away to another place are Jules Verne and Edgar Rice Burroughs (not Tarzan, but his sci fi stuff). Journey to the Center of the Earth, original book version--not the movie-- it an amazing read/listen!

I'm a cheap date... all hubby has to do it take me to the art supply store and buy me a new colored pencil, and I'm happy as a clam at high tide!

And congrats on the 80 lbs so far!!

Congrats on the 80 pounds, Chris! What a fabulous list--I love it. Have you tried making your own yogurt? You can make it greek yogurt too--it tastes fantastic. I have instructions on my blog if you want to try it.

Chris, Persuasion is my very favorite Jane Austen book of all time too. My favorite movie version is the one with the Audrey Hepburn-looking actress. My favorite Jane Austen movie, though, is the really long Pride and Prejudice with Colin Firth. I own it. And I know what I love about these books - and it's something that connects to this weight loss thing. Each story contains an amazing transformation, just like yours.

Lovely post. Congrats on the 80!

I'm glad you were able to have a day off. I'm feeling that strain. My perfect day off would be a day alone in my house. Then the next would be to go to a town with a book store. I think I shall have a get away in Feb or Mar like i did last year. Start saving my pennies!

I love this post!! I am just catching up as I was temporarily "grounded" from the computer to catch up with the kids school work. This was mainly self imposed, but not discouraged by the kids!
80 lbs Oh my gosh!! This is truly amazing. I'm so proud of you!! I love what you said about being raised in the country. Also, its exciting how far you've come with walking. I remember when I went out one day for a walk with my husband. Something was wrong..... I was wearing a skirt and my thighs kept rubbing together. I couldn't figure out what was going on. My kind husband told me gently that it was from putting on weight. I hadn't walked in a while and for sure not in a skirt.
Thank God neither of have the rubbing thigh syndrome any more!!

Back up, back up. Art pencils? Do you draw? If so, when can we see something you've done?

80lbs is truly stunning, but it's so inspiring that you don't just rest on your laurels.

I used to go crazy for colouring pencils when I was younger. I kind of drifted away from all kinds of creative things though as I got older, and I used to eat books (well not literally) but I seem to lack the concentration to read much these days. I blame the internet. But I LOVE the internet...oh the dilemma :(

Super congrats on the loss!!!

And of COURSE you can print me out and take me to the stylist. NO need to black my face out either. :) <3

Thanks for stopping by!!!

Quite agree. Education is to be had in the outdoors. Somehow, convenience makes us slaves and resistant to any outdoor effort.

My favorite picture of myself is from my days as a country girl. It sits in my entry to remind me and the world who I am.

Congratulations on your discipline and progress.

Hey there! I just re-read your profile. Ephemeral is one of my favorite words. If I were asked to write a personal mission statement I might just have to cut and paste your profile into the answer box.

How are your bangs looking nowadays?!

I still have problems.
