yup...it's tweaked.

Well woke up this morning and had a bit of difficulty straightening my leg.
I will try the elevation thing, the rolling thing and anything.
The only thing I can control now is the food.
So, I will do that...I rested today, will rest tomorrow (while doing the above)
And we will see.
Now, I am happy for a reason that has nothing to do with weight loss.
It's a feeling I am almost positive is currently being shared by Carlos and Marilee right now..and Alix too I think.
You see, I love this country.
And what I love about it is the freedom we have to succeed or fail based on effort, or even when our best efforts fall short and we fail, at least we had the chance to try.
There is nothing more damaging to the human spirit than to be kept.
To be coddled. To be led around by the hand by a paternalistic cabal, most of whom view us as too stupid to know our own mind.
They know better now.
I would rather live free in a shack, fashioned with my own hands...eating beans and rice.
Then live in a home determined fit by someone else, with food given to me, my choices made for me and my freedom stripped from me.
For a while I feared our country had lost it's spirit.
It's been a rough few years.
We as a nation have been through a lot.
I know our family is a microcosm of that struggle, as are a lot of you.
But like the song says...You can fail, you are free to fail, just as you are free to start all over again.
In this country you can always start again.
That and the spirit of independence is what has and always will, make this country the greatest country on Earth.
I love you Massachussetts.
Now, THAT is a First.
LOL.
Hugs,
your patriotic, injured....but able to start again,
blogger,
Chris

Chris, so sorry about the injury. Please take it easy for the next few days. You'll see, you'll be back to the gym lickety split.

Chris, What I love about this country is that, despite disagreement, it doesn't fall apart. We have peaceful elections even with disagreement.

That doesn't mean I'm happy about Massachusetts, but I'll defend to the death the voters' right to choose the candidate of their choice. That's being American, right?

And an amen to that! :) Well put.

Hi Chris,

Sorry your leg is tweaked. I chuckled at you noting if we walked together we'd be okay - one fully functioning set of legs between us! I expect that with some applied rest and other anti-inflammatory measures, it'll feel better fast. Ease back into activity when it does. You're going to want to kick ass right away (trust me, I know this), but RESIST! You see where it's gotten me!

Sorry your leg is still bothering you. Can I suggest something? When I was in massage therapy school we learned that one of the best ways to recover from an injury was to massage near the effected area. It brings fresh blood and oxygen to the area which helps the injury recover quicker. Think you can con your husband into massaging your leg?

Hope you feel better soon :)!

Crap about the leg but good that you are resting it. Keep the food real and all will be good - however I have no doubts with you.

All Hail Republican Chris Brown, and way to go GOP.

What's that I hear? Is it Ted Kennedy rolling over in his grave, or Obama's presidency circling the drain?

Sorry to be so catty, but I couldn't help but breathe a huge sigh of relief over the election results for the senate seat in Massachusetts. It reminded me of the outcome of the whole debacle when the Obamas and Oprah and Jesse Jackson tried to get the Olympic committee to select the USA for the upcoming Olympic Summer Games. Apparently he's not the new Messiah after all. Hmmm....

Oh, and thanks for the mention, Chris. Yep... I'm standing right alongside you, sistah.

Awesome post. Genuinely awesome!

I totally agree. In fact this voter from Louisiana signed a petition just this morning to seat your guy now!! (seatscottnow.com I THINK is the website)

I am super proud of Mass. :)

Sorry about the leg. Hope you are better soon.

Wow, Daniel and I were watching the news this morning and he was disappointed that Coaxley lost the race... this topic got us talking about immigration and the need for reform and the republican party... Can I just say the discussion turned into an all out argument. We had to finally agree to disagree. We have different views and I can see why we don't discuss politics much--we are both passionate and thank God we live in a free world where we can have separate views and ideology and still respect one another.

You rock Christ... we may not agree but I love that we can can express our views and enlighten one another.

LOL to Paula's typo.

Is the muscle tight? Some stretching might help it feel better. But, yeah rest it.

Yeah, what you said. Never thought I'd live to see the day I liked something MA did. ;-)

There will always be differences but especially after working for DoD for 9 years I realized how much soldiers and civilians alike are willing to do and to sacrifice for our freedom and our right to vote. Good goin Mass. Sometimes a good balance of power in the powers who lead is just what any country needs. Not just one side hiding behind closed doors and deciding how us little guys are going to be handled.

The thing I didn't point out is that both the parties have forgotten us in their hasty grab for power.
what I really like seeing is people taking the power back and expressing opinions. I love the protests, the town halls, and politicians running scared. We have stood by too long expecting the politicians to do whats right.
Now we need to watch and make them.

Good thoughts, Chris. I don't think it's a coincidence that this happened in Massachusetts. It's setting a precedence across our beautiful country that WE THE PEOPlE really do count!

I so love the comments on this thread...I feel like I found my political nitch. lol I feel the same way about both parties...it is time we the people took our country back. :) Now I'm gonna go wave a flag or sing God Bless America or something...lol.

Anti Americanism is so common (dare I say it fashionable?) over here and I just don't get it. There are things about American foreign policy that I don't agree with but when push comes to shove the USA is the first one to stand up and be counted - giving aid in disaster zones etc.

I'm not a very political animal but if I *had* to choose it would be Democrat all the way, but more because most of the stuff I disagree with in life just seems to fall on the Republican side of the fence! I do however watch Fox News regularly because I like to see all sides of a debate. And also shout at the TV when Glenn Beck is on, wow I just LOVE to hate that doughboy!! LOL...
