feels like voodoo...

okay.
So, i ate maintenance calories today for someone my weight who is sedentary...1730 cal.
wow.
I felt decadent.
I even had cheese on a sandwich. lol.
Well..the upshot is this.
I did 45 minutes on the stairstepper..jogged a mile and walked a mile..
and nary a shake, or spots were to be found.
It's low blood sugar.
I do not have THAT much patience however...
so..time for some calorie voodoo.
I will go lighter for breakfast...light for lunch.  no more than 500-600 calories for the first part of my day up till my workout..about an hour prior it will be a granola bar and some fatty protein....like nuts.
That will be a good 400 calories...300 about one hour prior in the form of granola or banana and 1/4 cup of nuts...and 100 after...in the form of 1/2 of a  granola bar .
I think my body needs fuel to get through the workout..and it will draw from my fat stores earlier and later.
That is the plan...1400-1500 calories....just with the calories distributed differently.
I gotta go watch Zombieland with my hubby...hope you all have a great night.
Hugs,
Chris

So glad the change worked. On our TV News last night a story about some research was featured. They found women need to eat carbs before working out even to lose weight. Apparently men are better off not eating carbs before exercising. I think I'll stay being a woman.

I think it was some Sports/Fitness research in New Zealand but because I don't take that much notice of TV I can't tell you where to go to get the science and the details.

Love your new songs chic! How did you like Zombieland?

If low blood sugar is the problem, you may want to do a bit of research on carbohydrate exchanges and how to ensure they are evenly distributed throughout your daily consumption. This can make a big difference to your blood sugar levels, so the issue is not just how many calories you consume throughout the day, but what types, if that makes sense. Hope you continue to feel better

That's pretty similar to my calorie distribution for gym days. I have the same jittery problem mid-workout otherwise... especially during the long hours of the challenge.

I'm working on the "Deployment Challenge" tonight & tomorrow. Love the idea! :)

I know what you mean about the cheese. Cheese and I have a big relationship, and cheese is abusive, like to my thighs!

Hope you're feeling better. Sounds like it. I had to take a glucose test this morning. HOURS of sitting at a lab with blood draws. It just better be negative for diabetes, that's all I'm gonna say...

Ok, so obviously you've got this whole calorie thing, and the burning thing down pat. I need your wisdom dear. Would there be anyway I could talk you into chatting w/ me over yahoo or email or facebook to help me get started on this stuff? I'm not dumb...really...just making this harder probably than it really is, but I still need someone to talk me through this and I have a few questions too. Let me know? :) Is zombieland any good btw and is it scary?

Hi Chris, your before and now pics are inspirational, you're looking great! I have just started out on my own journey and haven't dared start calorie counting yet because of previous failures - when I think I cut down too much too soon.

I wonder if your recent low blood sugar symptoms are also time of the month related?

Ohh, a cheese sandwich? How decadent!
I'm laughing about the cat situation in your earlier post, too.

I have no doubt that you will make a plan and work your plan whatever it turns out to be (though it sounds like hypoglycemia to me). In that case, it doesn't mean it isn't doable, it is just something else to work around. I have all kinds of faith in you that you will figure it out!

Hey, Chris. I just remembered. I have a glucose meter I no longer use (Was my office meter--no longer have the office) and some test strips that need to be used before they expire. I just realized that I won't get to them in time.

If you email me your address (on my blog) I'd be glad to mail the set to you. It'll get you started, directions are included--very easy.

you'll have 100 strips. The only thing you'll need to do is to go to the drugstore and buy a new battery.

P.S. I just dug the meter out. That little battery still works! (Although I can't say for how much longer--so I'd suggest you get a new one!) I checked it out against my current meter and the reading on both are the same, so it's working fine.

calorie voodoo huh? Interesting.

I think I should probably take the cheese off of my sandwiches...but I love cheese!

Great job with the figuring your problem out though. I would've had to ask around. :)

knew you would figure it out Chris. This is what I like about you... Always in tuned with your body and what it needs and does not need. Right on..,
