Proud

Hey all,
Had a really good day again today.
I am feeling better.
I did a walk yesterday so my workout 'schedule' was kind of thrown off.
So I am on the elliptical and it is HOT IN THE GYM.
I was kind of blah with it so I only did thirty minutes.
I decided to go out to the track and do a one mile walk, one mile barefoot jog.
Then I came in and at that point was feeling a wee bit queezy so thought I would skip the situps for today and do them tomorrow and instead do weight lifting.
Which I did.
None of this pertains to the title.

I went to my oldest daughter's high school assembly today for awards.
She's a sophomore.
I rarely if ever recieved end of year awards in high school
When I did they were ALWAYS  from my art teacher.
Kate's award this year was an academic letter.
I never knew they had these things.
I knew about sports letters and the like...but a letter for academics...
I wholly approve.
She not only got one but she also got a bar for keeping a gpa of 3.7 or higher for four consecutive semesters.
In reality her gpa is a 4.3.
She has honors courses...
Next year she has AP classes.

She told me on the way home that the award didn't mean much to her, because she wasn't doing it for an award.
She was doing it for her dream job.
To be a doctor of zoology.
I told  her I liked that because that meant she had a drive and motivation that was internal..not external.
I also told her that whether she liked it or not, I was getting her a letter Jacket.
She didnt have to wear it, but that someday it might mean more to her than it currently does.
I also told her I was proud of her.
And I am.
Well, I hope you all have a great day!
Tomorrow it's back to the gym for elliptical and situps.
I can't wait to get those insanity workouts from my little brother to really start switching things up, ON the upside...I am still 159 lbs, so that stomach flu really kicked things off nicely, lol.
Hope everyone is doing well.
Hugs,
Chris

Wow, I would be sooo proud too! That is awesome for her! Those AP classes are really going to help! I wish I would have taken more of them in high school and paid more attention. lol
I'm sure she's going to make a great zoologist!

That is so awesome. It is wonderful to know what you want to do with your life (in terms of your career) at that age. So much easier to work for it when you have that goal in sight. Your daughter sounds like an amazing your woman:-)

I love that you are teaching her the importance of internal motivation... this will help her all the rest of her life, in all areas... just wonderful!

She inherited her motivation skills from you, perhaps?

BTW, I tried running like you have been talking about in your previous posts....It's way different than the Army's way!

So, if you get a lettermen's jacket, what does it say on the back? Does it have a picture of a super-smart, sassy girl on it?

I am jealous. I want a jacket that tells everyone that I am clever!!

Cheers,
Missa

How are you liking barefoot jogging? Pretty nice huh?

That's awesome about your daughter wanting to be a doctor of zoology. She's working hard for herself. In high school, I was working hard for my parents' friends. Long complicated story but man, I had so many AP classes I didn't care about and I was miserable. I've learned to do things for myself now. On my own terms.

Glad the stomach flu had some positives!
